We Are on the Precipice of Civil War — And Trump Is Lighting the Match

There’s a line in history — a thin, cracking line — between unrest and open war. And as the Trump movement edges further into authoritarianism, that line is beginning to break.

Recently, Trump deployed the National Guard to Los Angeles, California, not for a natural disaster or humanitarian crisis, but to enforce political will. (Source: MSN) Not since the civil rights era have we seen such blatant weaponization of military force against states, cities, and citizens who refuse to comply with a corrupt central authority.

Let that sink in. A U.S. president sent soldiers — our soldiers — to occupy an American city simply because he hasn’t met his own deportation quota. Why? In order to envoke an archaic 1807 rule that would allow him to deploy the U.S. military domestically.

This isn’t governance. This is a dictatorship in the making.

And while the mainstream media frames this as just another “controversial” decision, the rest of us — those who remember the lessons of history, those who feel the ground shaking beneath us — see it for what it is: a warning shot.

Trump isn’t just threatening retribution in order to meet his quota for the deportation of immigrants, he’s establishing total authoritarian control. He’s already promised to weaponize the Department of Justice, to purge civil servants, to criminalize dissent. His followers openly fantasize about mass arrests of political opponents. Some are already acting on these beliefs with violence.

And now, military force is being useed as a solution to ideological disagreement.

This is not normal. This is not democratic. This is the slow-motion collapse of democracy.

Let me be clear: I don’t know what happens next if Trump doesn’t back down. I don’t know how far this will go. But I know one thing for certain:

It doesn’t matter how many National Guards he deploys. It doesn’t matter how many tanks or helicopters or federal agents he unleashes on us. We will not stop fighting.

Because this country doesn’t belong to him. It doesn’t belong to the billionaires funding his power grab. It doesn’t belong to the fossil fuel lobby, the megachurches, or the corrupt Supreme Court he rigged.

It belongs to us.

To the nurses and teachers, the veterans and students, the organizers and the voters. It belongs to every worker struggling to stay housed. Every parent raising a child who deserves better than this burning wreck of a democracy.

We are not afraid of Donald Trump. We are not afraid of his followers. And we will not be intimidated by any show of force he thinks will scare us into silence.

Because we know that the only way to lose this fight — the fight for the soul of America — is to back down.

And we’re not backing down.

Not now.

Not ever.
